Doraemon, a national series of Japan, is becoming a 3D CG animated film for the first time in the series’ history. Stand By Me Doraemon
will have a countrywide roadshow release in Japan on Aug. 8. The film
has generated considerable buzz since it was announced, and now the
theme song artist has been newly announced. Appointed to this role is
singer/songwriter Motohiro Hata.
The
title of the theme song is still unknown, but it will be a new song.
Hata is creating a ballad themed around the gentleness and warmth given
to us by the important people in our everyday lives. Because the song is
being created by Hata, who has a reputation for creating songs that put
the listener’s heart at ease, there are big expectations. The song will
be released as a single ahead of the film’s release.
Motohiro
Hata debuted in November 2006 with the single “Synchro.” He performed
in 2013 on tour and at various events, and became a popular artist who
in one year’s time performed in front of 1 million people. Regarding his
reason for appointing Hata to the role, director Ryuichi Yagi stated
that the love between Nobita and Shizuka will be the axis of the story
for Stand By Me Doraemon. He went on to comment, “We are
working on the gleam of the eyes, the silkiness of the hair, the
temperature of the skin and other qualities and warmth that seem like
you can reach out and touch them, and I consider [Hata] to be integral
to the story’s chest-tightening emotions.” He then revealed, “Hata is a
rare person who can convey through music feelings and warmth. I thought
his delicate and heartrending voice would be essential for delivering
those chest-tightening emotions to everyone, so I asked him to join us.”
Stand By Me Doraemon is being directed by the tag team of Ryuichi Yagi who directed Friends: Naki on the Monster Island and Takashi Yamazaki who directed Always: Sunset on Third Street.
The character sculpting for the movie has taken more than one year to
ensure that the expressions and movements are thoroughly life-like. In
order to not destroy the original world, the project has carefully
advanced, and a nostalgic and new Doraemon has been created.
To date, the film Doraemon: New Nobita's Great Demon - Peko and the Exploration Party of Five,
which released theatrically on March 8, has been seen by 3 million
people and grossed over 3.3 billion yen in box office revenue, making it
a record hit. Look forward to the release of the 3D CG film this
summer.
